Our Story
Perfume was born here. We just went home for it.
Aromise began in 2019 with a simple frustration: the world’s great perfume houses borrow endlessly from India — its sandalwood, its jasmine, its oud — while the country’s own thousand-year attar tradition goes uncredited. We decided to build a house that starts in India, stays in India, and says so on the bottle.
The Atelier
Kannauj, the city that smells of rain
On the banks of the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh, Kannauj has distilled attar since at least the Mughal era. Its artisans still capture the scent of monsoon-soaked earth itself — mitti attar — in copper degs over wood fire. Our entire collection is composed and matured here.

Heritage first
Every fragrance begins with fieldwork — weeks in the region it honours, with the farmers, priests, weavers and attar-wallahs who keep its scent culture alive.

Kannauj hands
We distil with third- and fourth-generation deg-bhapka artisans in Kannauj rather than industrial extraction plants. Slower, smaller, truer.

Fair to the field
Saffron growers in Pampore and jasmine pickers in Bengal are paid above-market rates, contracted directly, season after season.
